Call Room Funk

I'm on call right now. It's 1:30 in the morning, and I'm about to take a little nap in this call room. All I want is some sleep, but unfortunately this call room smells like ass. Seriously, no seriously. It smells like a homeless person lived here for a week and left. Either that or someone took a piss in here.

This ain't fair ...

Ha, ha, this is where the women's call room differ radically from the men's. Ours always smelled floral and sweet... :)

Floral? It's not funny to kick a man when he's down.

I have been enjoying your blog for a while. Would you mind answering a layperson’s question? I have been reading about “on call” and “call rooms”. I always assumed it was just a small room, with maybe something to sleep on. Now that I read Keagirl’s comment, I’m thinking I was wrong (no surprise there!). So, it’s a room occupied by more than one person? Girls in separate but better smelling quarters? Would you be revealing some long standing secret of medicine if you filled me in on the call room situation? Thanks.

medblog addict -- A call room is just what you thought, a small room with at least one bed in case you get time to sleep. However, keagirl's hospital sounds fancier than mine, since my hospital has only one room for both guys and girls (even though there are separate locker rooms for "Doctors" and "Women")

Thanks for filling me in. I'm looking forward to reading more about your experiences in medicine.
